Organization
The Middlebury Summer Festival on-the-Green (now known simply as Festival on the Green) was founded in 1978 by an energetic group of Middlebury area residents and friends. (For a detailed view of our origins, follow the link to History.) The Festival is a not-for-profit organization. We are “governed” by an elected Board of Directors (see below). The Festival is entirely supported by sponsorships and tax-deductible donations from the community. Although the performers and services are paid, the Festival is completely volunteer run. Though Middlebury’s Festival on-the-Green has grown substantially over the years, we still operate without an office or any paid administrative staff. The good will of the community continues to sustain the Festival and, we hope, will continue to do so for many years to come.
